Titan™

    How does the Titan™ work?
Titan utilizes a safe, infrared light to heat the dermis well below the skin's surface. This heating can cause immediate collagen contraction. During the procedure, the skin's surface (epidermis) is protected through continuous cooling with the Titan™ handpiece. After the procedure, new collagen growth results in further tightening and the development of a more youthful complexion with less lines, folds or looseness of the skin.

How is Titan different from Thermage?
Both heat the collagen in the skin but Titan is reported to be less painful and less sensitive to variations in tissue because it uses a completely different mechanism for heating.

    What areas can be treated?
Patients have been successfully treated on many areas of the body where skin is lax. Loose skin on the face, abdomen, back of the upper arms, inner thighs and under the chin have responded particularly well to the procedure.

How many treatments will I need?
The number of treatments varies according to the precise condition and responsiveness of your skin but it typically ranges from one to three treatments over a few months. At the time of the consultation we will advise you as to the number and frequency of treatments recommended for optimal results.

How long does each treatment take?
The time will vary according to whether you are treating a full face, a neck or both. A safe estimate is 60 minutes.

    What happens after the treatment?
Immediately following the treatment, you may notice some redness and mild swelling in the treated area. Both should dissipate within a few hours.

When will I see results and how long will the results last?
Some patients see results immediately. However, for most patients, the results are gradual over a three to six month period as new collagen is formed and the skin tightens. Our patients are still enjoying the benefits of Titan after one to two years, but because the skin will continue to age, they may opt for a yearly maintenance treatment.

    What do treatments feel like?
Each Titan™ pulse begins with cooling and then a brief heating sensation and ends with cooling again. Most patients have no problem tolerating the procedure, but some are more comfortable taking a mild pain reliever beforehand.

    Can anyone have it done?
Typically any adult who wants to have more fit skin, and who understands that this isn’t a replacement for a face-lift, can be a candidate for Titan. Patients of any skin type can be good candidates for Titan.

Dermal Fillers

    What is a dermal filler?
A dermal filler is a hyaluronic acid or calcium-based product that restores fullness and smoothes contours on the face. Perlane, Restylane and Juvederm are hyaluronic acids. Radiesse is a tiny calcium based microsphere that forms a "scaffold" to support and stimulate the growth of your own collagen.

Does it correct all of my wrinkles?
You will have an 80 to 100% improvement in the appearance of the injected lines and wrinkles temporarily.

    How long does it last?
It depends on the product, but approximately 4 to 12 months. Radiesse lasts longer than the other fillers and is best for nasolabial folds.

    Does it go away completely?
Yes, if you stop getting the injections the material is degraded by the body, leaving no traces of the dermal filler in the body.

    Is there any pre-treatment required?
Avoid any products containing aspirin, Ibuprofen, St. John's Wort or high doses of Vitamin E for 1 week prior to treatment to help decrease bruising and bleeding at the injection site.

Is there any post treatment necessary?
You will need to leave the area alone for 6 hours after treatment and refrain from aerobic exercise for 24 hours. There might be redness, swelling and minor bruising at the injection sites.

    Does it hurt?
There is minimal discomfort, but a topical or local anesthetic is available if needed.

BOTOX®

    What exactly is BOTOX® Cosmetic?
BOTOX® Cosmetic is a purified protein produced by the Clostridium botulinum bacterium. It is a non surgical, physician-administered treatment that can temporarily reduce moderate to severe frown lines between the brows in people 18 to 65 years of age. During treatment, very low doses of BOTOX® Cosmetic are administered via a few tiny injections directly into the muscles that cause those stubborn lines. The treatment is usually done in about 10 minutes, and no recovery time is needed. Within days, you may see an improvement that can last up to 4 months. Results may vary.

    How does BOTOX® Cosmetic work?
Those moderate to severe frown lines between your brows form over time as the result of muscle activity. BOTOX® Cosmetic is injected directly into the muscles between your brows. It works by blocking the transmission of nerve impulses to the injected muscles; this reduces the activity of the muscles that cause those persistent lines to form.

How long does BOTOX® Cosmetic last?
Results from treatment with BOTOX® Cosmetic can last for up to 4 months, but differs slightly for each individual. If you discontinue treatment, the frown lines between your brows gradually will look like they did before treatment.

Is treatment with BOTOX® Cosmetic painful?
Discomfort is usually minimal and brief. Prior to injecting, your physician may choose to numb the area with a cold pack or anesthetic cream. The entire procedure takes approximately 10 minutes. Many people are in and out of the physician’s office without downtime following BOTOX® Cosmetic treatment.

Who should not use BOTOX® Cosmetic?
BOTOX® Cosmetic should not be used in the presence of infection at the proposed injection site(s) and in individuals with known hypersensitivity to any ingredient in the formulation. Patients with neuromuscular disorders such as ALS, myasthenia gravis or Lambert-Eaton syndrome may be at increased risk of serious side effects.

Will I experience any side effects?
The most common side effects following injection include temporary eyelid droop and nausea. Localized pain, infection, inflammation, tenderness, swelling, redness, and/or bleeding/bruising may be associated with the injection. Patients with certain neuromuscular disorders such as ALS, myasthenia gravis, or Lambert-Eaton syndrome may be at increased risk of serious side effects. For more details, see the full Prescribing Information.

Will my facial expressions continue to look natural?
Although the results are visible, a treatment with BOTOX® Cosmetic will not radically change your facial appearance or make you look as if you "had work done." The muscle activity that causes frown lines between the brows is simply reduced, so you can still frown or look surprised without the wrinkles and creases between your brows.

What will happen to the frown lines between my brows if I choose not to continue treatments?
If you do not continue treatments, the moderate to severe frown lines between your brows will gradually look like they did before treatment.

    Is BOTOX® Cosmetic affordable?
When considering your facial aesthetic options, BOTOX® Cosmetic is quite affordable. According to an American Society for Aesthetic Plastic Surgery survey, BOTOX® Cosmetic is one of the low-entry-cost facial aesthetic procedures in the United States. Like other appearance-related investments, such as hair coloring and cuts, teeth whitening, and chemical peels, the cost must be weighed relative to your expectations. Consult your doctor for further information.

    Do treatment results differ?
To get the best results, it's important to go to a doctor who is experienced in administering BOTOX® Cosmetic. At ARIA MEDSPA you can be assured that only qualified healthcare professionals with extensive experience in administering BOTOX will be performing treatments.

    Does it hurt?
There is very minimal discomfort, no local or topical anesthesia is necessary.

Laser Hair Removal

    The ProWave Difference
The ProWave hair removal system delivers a specially tailored light source for permanent hair reduction. Cutera's newest hair removal innovation provides treatment for a wide range of skin types. An additional patient benefit is the ability of the handpiece to treat large areas such as women's legs and men's backs - quickly and safely.

What do ProWave treatments feel like?
When the pulse of light is delivered, some patients experience a mild pinching or stinging sensation. No local anesthesia or pain medication is typically required; however, some patients may prefer to use a topical anesthetic when sensitive areas are treated.

What are the possible side effects?
Although patients experience few side effects, those most commonly noticed are slight reddening and local swelling of the skin, similar to a sunburn. These effects typically last for several hours or less. In rare instances, blistering may occur. Consult with your medical professional for complete information on the benefits and risks of treatment.

How does ProWave compare with other hair removal methods?
Shaving, waxing, and depilatory creams are all temporary methods which must be repeated on a frequent basis. ProWave offers permanent hair reduction for lasting results.

How does ProWave compare with electrolysis?
Electrolysis is a tedious, invasive, and painful process that involves inserting a needle into each individual hair follicle and delivering an electrical charge to them one at a time. Electrolysis often requires years of treatments at regular intervals. By delivering light energy to hundreds of hair follicles at a time, ProWave effectively treats an area in just seconds that would take over an hour with electrolysis.

IPL Photorejuvenation

    LimeLight Facial™

Treatment of Skin Redness, Tiny Veins, Brown Spots and Sun Damage
    What is the LimeLight Facial?
The LimeLight Facial is a new, non-invasive approach to skin rejuvenation using Cutera’s LimeLight. The procedure offers the advantage of improving skin tone and surface imperfections associated with aging and photodamage.

    What areas can be treated?
The LimeLight Facial is ideal for any part of your face, neck and décolleté with skin redness, telangiectasia (tiny veins) or brown spots. Light (low contrast) brown spots, which were previously difficult to resolve, respond very well to treatment.

    What does the treatment do?
By selecting Program A, B or C, your practitioner can customize your LimeLight Facial to your skin type and selectively treat the brown and/or red pigmented areas on your skin. It’s the heating of the pigmented brown or red cells that causes the therapeutic effect.

    What do treatments feel like?
When the pulse of light is delivered, patients will experience a mild pinching or stinging sensation. Gel is recommended to cool the skin before vascular treatments. Anesthesia or pain medicine is typically not required.

How long will the treatments take?
Treatment time depends on the area of the body being treated. However, most treatments should take less than one hour.

How many treatments will I need?
One to three treatments are usually sufficient to see results. Additional treatments may be recommended, especially for excessively sundamaged skin.

    What happens after the treatment?
Immediately following treatment, brown spots will start to darken and your skin may appear slightly red. The treated area may be mildly swollen. This typically lasts a few hours and possibly a day or longer. Make-up can be applied to cover the redness.

    When will I see results?
Within one to three weeks, the darkened spots will flake off and fade. Diffuse redness or telangiectasia will decrease and your mottled complexion will improve.

Will the spots and redness reappear over time?
New brown spots, telangiectasia and diffuse redness may appear with new sun damage; however they too can be treated. Remember to always apply broad-spectrum sunscreen when outdoors to minimize sun damage and the appearance of new spots and diffuse redness. Rosacea is chronic and cannot be “cured” with any laser or light source, however its appearance can be improved.

Corrective Acne Treatment and Chemical Peels

    How do they work?
Salicylic Acid and/or Glycolic acids are used to remove the dead skin cells, improve skin texture, fine lines and overall appearance of the skin.

    Are they painful?
There maybe mild discomfort with some of the stronger peels. Most guests say there is a stinging or itching sensation depending on the type of peel you are having.

Is there any post treatment necessary?
Use of sun block is recommended. There will be some mild peeling or redness after the treatment. A home care regimen will be explained to you to follow to maintain the benefits of the treatments.

VibraDermabrasion

How is the vibradermabrasion different from standard microdermabrasion?
There are no particles used with vibraderm. Stainless steel paddles are used to smooth the skin. The paddles are textured for exfoliation. Most patients report a relaxing vibrating sensation.

What parts of the body can it be used on?
The face, neck, chest and back are the most common areas treated, but essentially it works well on all body areas.

Is there any post treatment necessary?
It is recommended that you wear sunscreen.

Fraxel®

What can the Fraxel laser do for my skin?
    • Improve texture tone and pore size
    • Erase unwanted brown spots
    • Smooth wrinkles around the eyes and acne scars
    • Rejuvenate your neck, chest and hands
    • All with minimal downtime

    How does the Fraxel work?
This revolutionary laser is able to gently treat the skin - with minimal discomfort and downtime, to achieve results that in the past were only achievable with the more aggressive laser types. It works by placing microscopic points of laser light on the skin; wherever these laser points of light are layed down, then new healthy skin grows in. The results are a return of the skin to a smoother softer, brighter texture, reduction of wrinkles and overall younger looking skin. The amount of textural improvement and wrinkle reduction does vary somewhat from patient to patient, but all patients do achieve visible improvement. Due to the gentle nature of this type of laser, the changes will develop gradually over the course of the treatment. Friends and family will not suspect that you are having "laser treatments" to the skin, but will notice a more refreshed, and younger looking you.

    How many treatments are needed?
At your initial consultation, your physician will determine the best treatment plan for your desired results. Clinical studies suggest that on average, an effective treatment regimen is 3 to 5 sessions, spaced about 2 to 4 weeks apart. Results are immediate and progressive. Optimal improvement is usually visible in about 2 to 3 months. Because Fraxel Laser Treatment spares healthy tissue, it is effective even on delicate skin areas, such as the neck, chest and hands.

How do you prepare your skin for a Fraxel treatment?
The treatment area will be thoroughly washed prior to the procedure. A topical gel containing anesthetic is applied initially to the skin and allowed to settle in for about 45 minutes prior to the procedure. Then OptiGuide Blue, an FDA certified water-soluble tint, is applied to the treatment area to highlight the contours of the skin. This tint is washed off after treatment.

    Is Fraxel Laser Treatment painful?
Most patients describe the treatment as having a "prickling" sensation. The topical anesthetic ointment and air cooling alleviates most discomfort.

    What Happens After Treatment?
After each Fraxel treatment there will be a little puffiness and pinkness to the skin, this usually resolves in 2 -7 days. This is a normal sign that the skin is deeply healing. Swelling is minimal and generally resolves in 2 to 3 days. It varies per client - as some will have little to no puffiness and some will have some pinkness that gradually fades over a week. The degree of pinkness to the skin is about the same as a "suburned" appearance. Over the following weeks and months, the body repairs the deeper dermal tissues that have been affected by the Fraxel treatment, producing longer beneficial changes associated with a healthy, more youthful appearance.

Some patients are able to return to routine activities, including work and social obligations, the same day of treatment. Others require a little more time, depending upon their skin condition and treatment. After the treatment you may have bronzing. Your skin may have a bronze or tanned appearance that lasts anywhere from 3 to 14 days, depending on your treatment level. Your skin will naturally and vigorously exfoliate as new skin replaces dead tissue, and you may experience flaking which is similar to that of minor sunburn, but without the associated pain. Use of a moisturizer will mask the appearance of flaking. Be sure to use sunscreen at least twice daily to protect your skin from sun exposure during both the healing phase and for several months after treatment. Apply a moisturizing sun block with an SPF of at least 30-plus. For added protection, use wide-brimmed hats when in direct sunlight.

Over the following weeks and months, the body repairs the deeper dermal tissues that have been affected by the Fraxel treatment, producing longer beneficial changes associated with a healthy more youthful appearing skin.

Laser Vein Therapy

    The Cutera CoolGlide difference.
The Cutera CoolGlide combines the ideal laser wavelength with the most flexible parameters to deliver a superior vascular laser system. It treats a broad range of vessels from tiny spider veins to deep blue reticular veins quickly, safely, and effectively. Patients with dark, light or tanned skin can experience outstanding results with minimal bruising or blistering.

How does CoolGlide Vein Therapy work?
The Cutera CoolGlide systems deliver pulses of light energy which cause the blood within the vein to coagulate, eventually destroying the vessel which is later reabsorbed by your body. Blood flow will then be redirected to veins deeper below your skin's surface, where it should be.

How many treatments will I need?
Often, patients find that one or two treatments are sufficient. However, the number of treatments necessary depends on the number, color, and size of the vessels being treated. Since individual results vary, ask your medical professional about your specific condition.

    Do the treatments hurt?
Most patients experience a stinging sensation as the pulses of energy are delivered through the handpiece. Although no local anesthesia or pain medication is typically required, many patients opt to use a topical anesthetic prior to treatment. Following the treatment, the pain is minimal to nonexistent.

What are the possible side effects?
Although many patients report few if any side effects, those most commonly noticed are slight reddening and local swelling of the skin. These effects typically last for less than 24 hours. Some patients may experience bruising and, in rare instances, blistering may occur. Consult with your medical professional for complete information on the benefits and risks of treatment.

    When will I see results?
Most patients find that the majority of the treated veins have shown significant improvement within two to six weeks of treatment. However, your final results may not be apparent for several months. Over time, it is possible for new veins to appear, but these too can be removed with the Cutera CoolGlide.

FAQ for Laser Genesis

    The Laser Genesis Difference
The Laser Genesis procedure utilizes non-invasive laser technology to safely, discretely and effectively treat fine-line wrinkles, diffuse and excessive redness and help manage large pores, uneven skin texture, and scars. You can expect to see subtle yet consistent results after each treatment, without unwanted side effects such as bruising or excessive skin irritation. Treatments can be performed in a relaxed, comfortable manner without the use of topical anesthetics or gel.

    How does Laser Genesis work?
By gently heating the upper dermis well below your skin's surface, Laser Genesis stimulates collagen regrowth. Additional heat is generated in dilated capillaries to reduce redness.

How many treatments will I need?
The treatment results are often subtle. On average, you may require four to six treatments in order to achieve optimal results. Every patient's condition and needs vary. For more information about your expected results or the number of treatments necessary, consult your healthcare professional.

What are the possible side effects?
Although most patients report few if any side effects, the most common is a slight redness that disappears within a few hours of treatment. Consult your healthcare professional for complete information about the benefits and risks of treatment.

What kind of textural improvements can you expect with Laser Genesis skin therapy?
Over the course of four to five treatments, Laser Genesis can help restore the skin's youthful glow and appearance by smoothing out uneven texture caused by aging, sun damage or scars. You will see a more even, healthy complexion as large pores are reduced in size, and minor imperfections are diminished. The individual treatment results are subtle, but the overall effect of multiple treatments can be quite dramatic.
